The Slovakian Ministry of Environment elaborated and the government approved in 2012 a 2nd National Action Plan for Green Public Procurement (GPP) for the period of 2011 until 2015 (NAP GPP II).

The strategic goal of NAP GPP II is to increase the share of GPP use in Slovakia by central state bodies from currently 42 % to 65 % and 50 % on the local level by 2015. For this the government obliged both central and local contracting authorities to apply GPP principles. In order to achieve the above goals, the Ministry of Environment together with others aims to educate contracting authorities on the use of GPP.
