Efficient Lighting Initiative (ELI)
ELI is an international branding system for high-quality energy-efficient lighting products.
The original ELI programme tested the quality certification and lebelling concept and focused on seven countries during the period 2000 – 2003. In 2005, the China Standard Certification Center (CSC) was commissioned to develop and expand the ELI certification and branding system globally. The expanded ELI programme is operated by a new institute, the ELI Quality Certification Institute and continues to accelerate the widerspread adoption of energy-efficient lighting products and thereby reduce greenhouse gas emissions.
Specifications for energy efficient lighting exist for the product groups of self-ballasted Compact Flourescent Lamps, double-capped fluorescent lamps, fluorescent lamp ballasts, street lighting, indoor lighting system and LED.
